Adi Chunchanagiri The seat of the Swami of the Vokkaliga community , this small town is a noted center of Bhairva Worship . The main attraction here is the gangadeshwara Temple , Which attracts pilgrims in thousands during the annual Jatra and the Peacock Sanctuary . The Matha provides accommodation for guest visitors at its guest house .

ADHICHUNCHANAGIRI MAHASAMSTHANA MUTH

Adichunchanagiri Muth is situated on the Adichunchanagiri hills, Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district. The place is blessed with beauty of nature where peacocks play under the azure shadow of the trees and cool breeze in the midst of beautiful rural settings. The land scape is a great nature of mankind. It is dear to nature lovers, bewitches the devotes to develop a spiritual bent of mind. It is a punyastala par-excellence. The presiding deity is Lord Kalabhairaveshwara. The hillock, the dome of temple Gangadhareshwara and the pond in Mayravana are a sight for the Gods. Adichunchanagiri Peeta has a great tradition and significant inheritance of illustrious succession of Gurus who have contributed to the improvement of mankind. The fervent and dedicated aims of the muth have attracted millions of devotees.

Adichunchanagiri Peacock Sanctuary.

Adichunchanagiri occupies a special place in the heart of the tourists visiting Karnataka. It is an important seat of learning and is dotted with a number of temples. The rock climbers and those with a penchant for adventurous activities consider Adichunchanagiri a very interesting place. The bird lovers have a lot to look forward to in this place that has a wonderful peacock sanctuary called the Adichunchanagiri Peacock Sanctuary.

Covered with scrub forest and plantations, the Adichunchanagiri peacock sanctuary's altitude varies from 770 to 1000 meters. There was a clear motive behind the setting up of this sanctuary, the conservation of the peacocks. Besides the innumerable peacocks that thrive in this place Adichunchanagiri peacock sanctuary also provides asylum to bonnet macaque, fruit bat, jungle cat, hare and common mongoose. The sheer diversity of birds and butterflies are bound to impress you. You will stumble upon the rarest species of the yellow-throated bulbul. The Chunchanagiri temple and the pilgrim center are in close proximity to the Adichunchanagiri peacock sanctuary.

The entry fee of the Adichunchanagiri Peacock Sanctuary is Rs. 15 for the Indians and Rs. 50 for the foreigners. The Adichunchanagiri Peacock Sanctuary also organizes safaris around the sanctuary in departmental bus and departmental jeep. It is advisable that you let a guide accompany you on your safari for which you have to shell out 100 bucks. If you want to take snaps of the inmates of the Adichunchanagiri Peacock sanctuary you can do so but only after paying the money for it. You can carry a manual, digital still camera, handy cam or even a larger video camera. You are also allowed to undertake trekking activities within the Adichunchanagiri peacock sanctuary for which the sanctuary has all the required facilities.
