Kundadri Kundadri located near Agumbe, is also a Jain pilgrimage site in Tirthahalli taluk. Here, one can find a Vrushabha Theerthankara Jain basadi and also enjoy dawn and dusk against the background of Arabian sea. On a full moon day one can experience sun rise and moon set simultaneously.

Located 3200 feet above the sea level, Kundadri has a single gigantic monolithic rock formation with various outgrowths. A rough stone paved path leads to the top of the hill amidst dense forest.

Kundadri, a hill station situated in Teerthahalli taluk of Shimoga, is one place which has not been explored by too many visitors and hence remains unspoilt. Kundadri is a huge monolithic rock formation covered with diverse dense evergreen forests, and is about 3,200 feet above the sea level. The wild grass vegetation over the hill range often invites the fauna in the adjacent dense forest to feed upon.

At the top of the hill, stands a seventeenth century Jain temple amidst the serene surroundings. Close to the temple are two ponds filled with chill water and lotus flowers throughout the year. The hill is named after a Jain monk called Kundakundacharya who is believed to have lived here and observed severe penance. Every year, on the day of Makara Sankranti, a large number of Jain pilgrims gather on the top of the hill to celebrate the gala of Kundadri.

At the top of the hill one can get himself completely dissolved and rejoice
with the fresh and heavenly cold breeze blowing forcibly from the western direction. Sitting on the grassy surface and watching the sunset on a clear sky day is an unforgettable mesmerising experience. Many rivers flowing beside the foot of the hill can be seen from the top and distant backwaters of the Varahi Dam enhance its beauty. The breathtaking cliff on the right side of the Jain temple can induce panic even in the minds of the bravest.

Hiking along the mountain range amidst greenery, enjoying the panoramic views of landscapes and experiencing the wilderness is a feast to the soul.
